In our considerations regarding our eco-labelled tourist accommodation and our commitment to being an environmentally responsible venue, the online aspect cannot be overlooked and is, for us, an integral part of sustainable tourism.
A significant impact
For the past 20 years, digital technology has played a huge role in both professional and personal practices and habits.
Take email, for example: when this technology was in its infancy, we came to believe that email cuts down on transport and paper… and is therefore far more environmentally friendly. Except that its widespread adoption and ease of use have led to an exponential increase in the number of emails sent… and, crucially, it is not carbon-neutral: sending or storing emails online consumes a great deal of resources without us even realising it.
Studies have now proven this… We can no longer ignore the fact that our digital habits, just like all our other habits, have a significant impact on our planet’s resources.
An ongoing and constantly evolving endeavour:
In addition to our efforts to make the Collines de Sainte-Féréole website eco-friendly and environmentally responsible, we are therefore seeking to reassess our digital presence in the light of this new awareness. We have explored the ins and outs of this at length. We have sought support from agencies that share this same concern. We have joined forces with the Brive Tourisme websites (of which we are a part) to push the boundaries of eco-design even further…
This website is therefore the result of choices and trade-offs that we believe are consistent with our values, our objectives and a very reasonable environmental footprint.
Between innovation and the cutting edge
The issue of eco-designing a website is a frequent topic of discussion online. But we have realised, as we’ve gone along, that few have actually taken the plunge. Indeed, few communications (or web) agencies are technically, culturally and ethically capable of embarking on this venture… We are therefore proud to have created more environmentally responsible websites and to have brought on board technical service providers who have changed the way they work. But things are changing, and for the Résidence des Collines de Sainte Féréole, it’s great to be among the pioneers.
